Our most recent meeting was held at Infiniti of Newfoundland. After starting the meeting with our usual catered networking hour, we heard from the Home Again Furniture Bank, and how being selected as our supported charity during the last meeting had an impact on their work in the community.

When you are tired, you do not perform at your best. When you’re not performing at your best, it takes a toll – physically and emotionally. Through our previous donation, the Home Again Furniture Bank was able to obtain mattresses and beds for those that need them. A good night’s sleep makes a large impact on an individual’s quality of life, and our donation has impacted many.

What an inspiration!

The Nominated Charities

Bridges to Hope (video), nominated by member Harold Guzzwell

Candlelighters of Newfoundland (video), nominated by member Noah Zanbilowicz

St. John’s Women’s Centre (video), nominated by member Travis White

These charities do incredible work in the community, and we are thankful for the time they have taken to share details about their organizations. 100 Men Who Give a Damn NL offers members the benefit of not only giving back, but the ability to learn of, and hear from charities we may not have otherwise known about.

While only one charity can be selected at our meetings, we congratulate each and every group for the work they do and the impact they have.

Selected Charity

Each member presented, and showed a video about their chosen charity created by JAC. Presentations completed and videos watched meant it was time to vote! After tallying votes, which charity was chosen? The St. John’s Women’s Centre!

The St. John’s Status of Women Council/Women’s Centre is a feminist organization that since 1972 is continually working to achieve equality and justice through political activism, community collaboration and the creation of a safe and inclusive space for all women in the St. John’s area.

Upon being selected, they tweeted, “We are overwhelmed! The whole team is in tears. Thank you @100MenNL this is going to make a huge difference. #community #grateful”.

Special Thank You

Thank you to our host, Infiniti of Newfoundland, for providing a location for our October meeting. The catering was a step above, and enjoyed by all in their beautiful showroom. In addition to welcoming us so warmly, they took giving back to the community further – by contributing an additional $500 to our effort.

Find Infiniti of Newfoundland on Facebook or Twitter, and give them a follow today.
